So I had work from 5:30pm til 1:30am tonight. I had just got paid Thursday, and I decided I would go shopping before work. Originally I just wanted some shoes, but I looked at some iPods online and found I could afford one with my last paycheck. So I ran over to Best Buy, and I was like, "I want the 16 gig iPod Touch." Sadly, they only had the 8 gig, which was too small, and the 32 gig, which was too expensive. So I went over to Circuit City, and they didn't have ANY iPod touches at all. Apparently the new ones are coming out tomorrow so they sold all the old ones. But I couldn't afford the new ones, cause they were $100 more! Then I tried Wal-Mart, and they had them! But the the prices on all 3 of them were $100 higher than at Best Buy, so at first I figured they might have got the new ones in early or something. So I asked the guy, and he said they were the old ones. I was like, "Are you kidding? I could get them for $100 cheaper at Best Buy!" So he's all, "Go to Customer Service and tell them, and they should call Best Buy and verify it and then we might be able to price match it for you." I was like, "Damn straight you will." OK, I didn't actually say that, but I was thinking it.
So I went to the Customer Service managers, and they told me I had to bring in a sale ad, like from a newspaper, and they'd do it. But they wouldn't call or anything. Psht. So, I went back to Best Buy, and looked through their little booklet thingy but the iPods weren't in it. Downer. So I asked the Customer Service people there, and I told them I had looked it up online earlier, and they printed out a piece of paper that had the price for theirs, (the one I wanted that they were sold out of) and it was less than $300 when at Wal-Mart it was $400. So I took that piece of paper, went BACK to Wal-Mart, and decided to talk to someone else at customer service, and they told me I could just go back to Electronics and they'd call and verify, even though it wasn't a sales ad. I was quite pleased.
The guy back in electronics called up Best Buy, they explained everything to him, and he knocked the price down over $100. And I got the last one in the area. Perfect timing as well, cause tomorrow the price would been back up to $400 and I woulda be shit outta luck. So when he rang it up, he had to have a supervisor come over and change the price on the register. So this lady came over and typed everything in, and I was so excited, I was like, "I can't believe I got the very last one in the city!" And she said, "You mean Best Buy didn't have them?" And I almost shit my pants. Apparently, if the other store is out, they don't knock down the price. Luckily, she had already fixed it, so she couldn't undo it, but she was not very happy with me. But the guy didn't seem very bothered, he actually seemed happy about it all, so I figured it was ok. I mean, I got me AWESOME new 16 gig iPod touch, and I'm loving it.
The coolest thing about it, is it's pretty much EXACTLY like an iPhone, it just doesn't make calls. It looks exactly like it, it plays music, has pictures, and even has internet, but I don't get a bill cause it uses WiFi. :D I'm very proud of myself for not letting some stupid people get in my way of something I wanted.
