So I had my first day of work last night. I was meant to be working from 5 pm to 12 am.
When I first got there I had to get an ugly maroon vest and stupid bowtie. The vest is a bit small, but oh well. And I discovered that just about everything in the employee handbook (which I actually read parts of) was pretty much crap. I don't have to wear my hair up. I can eat in the lobby. And it's perfectly ok to just wander around and talk to whoever. At my last job I was behind that counter all day and not allowed to spend time talking to friends. I always had to look busy. Here it's like, the total opposite. Which leads me to think colouring my hair jsut might actually be ok. We'll see though.
I did meet some really awesome people. My shift manager Sabrina is nice. She's quite quiet, but really sweet. And there was this guy Casper, whose name might actually be Will, but I dunno. I got kinda confused, lol. But he was really hyper, which is fun. He showed me around the theatre and everything. Not that there's really anything to show. The only places we go are upstairs to the projection room, the lobby, and the managers office. Then there was this guy Sam. He's really hyper as well. He really likes giving people high fives and tapping people on the shoulder and then appearing on their other side. He did that to me a few times, and then I went and did it to him and totally got him, ha ha. And then he had these dangly buttons on his vest, and he would try and twirl them around like those tassles those women wear on their nipples. It was funny. He'd do that and then grab a broom and act like it was a pole and he'd go, "I'm Dr. Looove." Then there was Drew. Now that's what it said on his name tag, but on his register it said Jacob, so once again, I'm confused, lol. But he was the cutest, so I just shadowed him mostly. Ran and got whatever his customers ordered. And then he said he'd go on break with me and took me to McDonald's to get something to eat. He was even nice enough to buy me a drink. :) And since I didn't have any buttons or a name tag to wear, he gave me one of his buttons. :) He showed me lots of random stuff about some of the equipment. Then one time, he was trying to get something off the floor, and he bent over and his ass hit the slushie maching and broke it, lol. It was funny trying to watch him fix it.
Speaking of the guys though, I noticed a lot of them seem to suffer from very bad acne. I don't really mind though. :)
Anyways, after a few hours I started to fell really ill and I was in and out of the bathroom and I felt horrible, so I had to go home a couple hours early. Good thing as well since the moment I got home I was sick. I felt so shitty, especially for leaving early on my first night. :( But I will be working tonight from 5:30 pm to about 1:30 am.
Hopefully today I'll be learning how to work the cash register, since when they tried to get me to do it last night I was so ill I couldn't even focus on what anyone was saying. I just hope they don't throw me onto my own register right away, that would kinda suck. But oh well. And I have no idea what I'll be doing on break tonight, since I dunno who'll even be there. I'll probably end up listening to my iPod or something. We'll see. I just really hope I don't get ill again. But the guys were very nice trying to cheer me up and make me feel better last night. I think I'll like wokring with these people. Not to mention they don't have the horrible southern accent! Yaaay! But a lot of the customers do and they're very... southern I guess is the best way to put it, lol.
Yeah, so we'll see who all is working tonight and hopefully there'll be another cute guy to hang out with. :)
